This is a texture I made for https://www.gametextures.com/. I had a decent amount of help over there from the talented Matt Dirks to set up the proper piling array here.
I modeled the seeds themselves out in Maya and then created my height maps in Xnormal.
The piling itself is easy enough to set up, the biggest problem I had was with the color though it got figured out in the end.
I do not think that my method for the coloring would work for many other things so I will have to find another way to achieve that properly.
